A mainnet in crypto refers to the live, public blockchain network of a specific cryptocurrency. This is the final, production version of the blockchain that is used for real-world transactions and interactions. As opposed to a testnet, which is a separate blockchain network used for testing and development purposes.

Once a cryptocurrency project is live on the mainnet, it can be mined, traded, and used for transactions. The launch of a mainnet is considered a significant milestone for any cryptocurrency project as it marks the point at which the project becomes fully operational.
